Tell us about your professional background

My journey began in the banking industry, where I honed my skills and developed a keen understanding of financial needs across various sectors.

After completing my A-Levels in English, History, and Business Studies, I embarked on my career in finance at Yorkshire Bank. Over my 26-year tenure, I gained extensive experience in various roles, starting as a personal banker and progressing to become a mortgage advisor, bank manager, and ultimately, a member of the small business team.

This diverse background equipped me with a unique perspective on the financial challenges faced by businesses and the creative solutions available beyond traditional banking.

Why did you join OSBF?

Joining One Stop Business Finance in October 2018 was a pivotal moment for me. Coming from a banking background, I found it refreshing to be part of a team that offers alternatives to conventional banking practices. I am particularly drawn to OSBF’s commitment to saying “yes” more often than “no.”

We take a commercial approach when working with clients, allowing us to craft tailored solutions that meet their specific funding needs, regardless of their sector.

What is your proudest professional achievement?

One of my proudest achievements at One Stop Business Finance was assisting a farmer during a particularly challenging time. Following a marriage breakdown, the farmer was faced with mounting stress from an existing lender who was applying default interest to his loan.

Recognising the urgency of his situation, I worked closely with my team to secure the funds necessary to pay off his existing lender.

This not only relieved his financial burden but also allowed him to focus on rebuilding his farming business. Moments like these reaffirm my dedication to helping SMEs achieve their goals.

What are your goals for the future?

I’d like to work with any SME seeking funding and I welcome opportunities to work across various sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, engineering, construction, real estate, finance, and technology.
